Born in the city of Salto, São Paulo, Marcos Vinicius Lima Benedetti is the man behind Volkoder, one of the most internationally acclaimed Brazilian electronic artists in recent years. Currently based in the city of São Paulo, he entered his third decade as an artist in 2025, consolidating a journey built around consistency, strong sonic identity and a regular presence on the world’s leading dance floors.
Self-taught, Volkoder began his journey as a teenager producing music in his bedroom, driven by curiosity and intuition. Even before establishing himself as a DJ, production has always been at the core of his artistic expression, and still is today. At the same time, he studied Architecture for four years, a background that, in a way, is reflected in his meticulous approach to structuring grooves, layers and atmospheres on the dance floor.
His stage name emerged early in his career, when he was searching for a strong and original identity. “Volkoder” references the vocoder: an effect he frequently used in his early productions. Over time, the name evolved to embody a broader aesthetic universe, associated with driving basslines, hypnotic vocals and precise rhythmic construction.
