There is no stopping Vintage Culture. The Brazilian artist, who was voted the world’s No. 1 House DJ in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs 2022, has gone from small-town dreamer to main stage headliner in just a few short years. He has had multiple chart-topping hits across both Billboard and Spotify, completed successful residencies in Ibiza and Las Vegas, played epic shows everywhere from Tomorrowland in Belgium to Ultra Music Festival in Miami, and picked up more than 2 billion global streams. All of this has been made possible by a work ethic that is second to none and a passion for the party like no other.
The Brazilian star’s drive for innovation matches his passion for music. He recently announced his partnership with forward-thinking electronic music and lifestyle brand BOMA (Born of Music Addiction) to launch a new events series, record label and clothing brand. The project promises to enhance electronic music worldwide by expanding the BOMA brand platform to a global audience via a series of
multimedia events. 2023 also sees the launch of Vintage Culture’s own major festival event: Vintage Is a Festival. This extravaganza of Music & the Arts rolls across Brazil through 5 major cities to
tens-of-thousands of people. Vintage Is a Festival is already shaping up to be an ongoing annual event across continents for years to come.
Lukas Ruiz, aka Vintage Culture, works with the same determination and focus as his hero Ayrton Senna. His career took off in 2020 following the release of his Jorja Smith and Maverick Sabre remix. Vintage Culture was already established in Brazil and making his mark on the international stage when the pandemic hit, but he used the downtime to write over 200 tracks. That creative flurry gave rise to a new house sound that was more emotional and reflective of his personal feelings. The results came in tunes like the Defected Records’ release, “It Is What It Is” featuring Elise LeGrow with warm, rolling drums, expressive synths and stirring piano keys. That track made a global impact and picked up
high-profile support from plenty of major players that have continued to come in ever since. In its wake, there followed other chart-topping hits on Defected like 'Nightjar' feat SHELLS and plenty more on vital labels like Insomniac, Ultra and Sony.
Vintage Culture has since enjoyed platinum success on multiple singles, as well as topping the Billboard Club / Dance and Spotify Dance Charts. He has collaborated with and remixed an array of artists, such as the late Maxi Jazz, Rufus Du Sol, John Summit, Meduza, The Martinez Brothers & Louie Vega,
Diplo, Roland Clark, Aurora, Sonny Fodera, Claptone, James Hype, Annabel Englund, Solardo and so many more. His remixes of the likes of Rufus Du Sol, Bob Moses and Franky Wah prove just as popular
- and have helped to make him a firm fixture on the world's most influential radio stations from BBC Radio 1 and KISS FM in the UK to NRJ in France, Slam FM in the Netherlands, SiriusXM in the USA and TripleJ in Australia, as well as the most streamed artist on all of Beatport in 2022.
As a DJ, Vintage Culture is no less focused. Last summer, he completed an unforgettable debut residency at the iconic Hï Ibiza alongside Fisher and had one of the anthems of the season with his remix of Jamie Jones’ ‘My Paradise’. The Brazilian famously enjoys playing extended DJ sets for as long as possible and up to four times per weekend in multiple different countries. His acclaimed DJ sets take dancers on a whirlwind through every shade of house music and have made him one of the most
in-demand selectors on the planet: he's played sold-out shows in North and South America and Europe,
has been the main stage attraction at Tomorrowland, Electric Daisy Carnival Festival and Ultra Music Festival and hosted his own Vintage Culture residency at Hi Ibiza, the most famous club on the White Isle. On top of this, he has made his mark on Las Vegas with his weekly residency with Tao Group Hospitality and a music filled Summer in Vegas.
Back home, Lukas Ruiz is a national icon of electronic music who has truly invigorated the Brazilian scene with his own label and festival brand, Só Track Boa Festival. It roughly translates as “good tracks only” and is known for its over-the-top production, explosive pyrotechnics and awe-inspiring ice canons at 25,000 capacity stadiums across Brazil and more recently in North America. All this comes after being made a cover star of both Rolling Stone Magazine Brazil and DJ Magazine’s international edition and being included in Forbes Magazine's influential 30 under 30 list. This year sees Lukas Ruiz release a very special project which is 2 years in the making, Vintage Is Festival. A unique festival experience, with a marathon extended Vintage Culture DJ set and a production this will set him up in a different sphere.
