ABOUT
Shale are a band made up of four teenage mates from Cardiff and Newport in South Wales. Their music is defined by guitar-led, catchy pop tunes and an exciting, high-energy live set complete with dancing!
The band released their self-titled debut EP in April 2025, featuring their first single, “Green Light Red Light.” Originally created by songwriter Samuel Hale as a sixth form school project, the track’s success was an unexpected triumph, earning spins on BBC Introducing and thousands of Spotify streams.
Following that, the band dropped the incredibly catchy “Fuzzy Identities,” which secured airplay on BBC 6 Music and heavy daytime rotation on BBC Radio Wales, where it spent two weeks on the A-list.
With the success of “Fuzzy Identities,” Shale went on to perform at Cardiff’s legendary Sŵn Festival and sell out Clwb Ifor Bach, one of the city’s most iconic venues. They hace also supported rising acts such as The Guest List, Seb Lowe and more!
“It’s Not Right,” continued their rise, picking up momentum on BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio Wales, and indie stations across the UK (and beyond). The track also earned the band a BBC Introducing session and praise in DIY Magazine.
Live favourite “Work Dog,” was released in April 2025 along with the debut EP ‘Shale' a fitting anthem for a group known for their tireless work ethic and infectious energy on stage.
