ABOUT
Raney’s first piano lesson was given by cousin Brian Wilson. “He sat me down at the piano and created a triangle with his fingers. He put his hands on the piano and the triangle played a major chord. He told me, this is what a triangle sounds like”. Raney’s mother, Ginger Blake sang backup for The Rolling Stones, Van Morrison, Steppenwolf, Ray Charles and these were the characters that could usually be found around the family dinner table.

After Raney’s dual degree in music and psychology, he began a weekly live score performance residency at Luna Park in Los Angeles, where he used a small ensemble to score his NYU and USC friend’s films as well as interpretations of classic movies. His original score for the United Nation’s short film FEATHERS TO THE SKY garnered worldwide attention and he began working in film and television.

As the art gallery house composer for Bruce Helford, Raney was asked to score Bruce’s hit sitcom ANGER MANAGEMENT for FX which went on to 100 episodes and syndication. In the pop world, Raney was brought on to work with legendary producer / songwriter Giorgio Moroder to produce and write with BRITNEY SPEARS, Matthew Koma, and Foxes for the Deja Vu album. After Raney’s track with Spears went to the top of the Billboard dance charts, he asked Giorgio to collaborate on some upcoming score projects. They immediately landed a job for Disney to score TRON RUN/R. They went on to score the hit show QUEEN OF THE SOUTH for USA, which is currently in its 4th season.
