NAME:
Matteo Bocelli
ABOUT
Having grown up in an unusually stimulating environment, Matteo showed strong artistic talent early on, which would lead him to undertake the study of the piano. As a teenager, his passion for music rivalled his love of sport and it was only in 2015 that he began to study singing under the guidance of his father. Currently, he is a student of vocal performance at the Lucca Conservatory.
His first experiences as a singer took place at the Teatro del Silenzio (2016) where, in front of 12000 spectators and alongside legendary artists like Leo Nucci and Sumi Jo, he performed arias from Verdi’s operas. In 2016, he also sang on the opening night of “Celebrity Fight Night”, in the Basilica di Santa Croce in Florence.
Matteo made his official début in the United States in March 2017, taking part in the spectacular “David Foster and Friends” competition for the Horatio Alger Award, in Washington, where he received an enthusiastic welcome.
In the meantime, alongside Jennifer Lopez, he was the face of Guess’ 2017 Fall/Winter advertising campaign, and he also began a collaboration with the Italian jewellery brand Bulgari as a worldwide ambassador.
In September 2017, Matteo performed at the Colosseum in Rome for the fourth edition of Celebrity Fight Night, alongside stars such as Sumi Jo, Aida Garifullina, Elton John and Steven Tyler – broadcast nationally on Italian TV channel Rai Uno. Concerts in Europe, Canada and USA followed.
Vocally, 2018 was the turning point. “Sì”, the acclaimed global best-selling album from Andrea Bocelli, contained an extremely special duet “Fall on Me”, which sees father and son performing together for the first time. Matteo wrote the Italian lyrics of the song and the video of the song hit over 40-millions views worldwide becoming the most viewed video on the record and of Andrea Bocelli’s videography of all the time.
Since then Matteo has performed in iconic venues around the world including the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, Madison Square Garden in New York and the O2 arena in London. Along with his father he has also toured South Africa, Russia, Canada, Mexico, Germany and participated in some of the most culturally significant TV shows in the world, like The Late Show with Stephen Cobert, Dancing With The Stars, Good Morning America, Strictly Come Dancing, the Sanremo Festival 2019, and many others.
Considered to be one of the most promising emerging vocalists on the international pop scene, Matteo is currently working with the iconic Capitol Records on the song writing sessions for his first record, to be released internationally in 2020.
