ABOUT
Ledbyher (born Rachel Diack, affectionately known as ‘Rachy’) is a 21-year-old independent artist, producer, songstress, and creative director. Her Indonesian and Scottish heritage has given her a unique, global perspective on art, shaping her creative approach. After living in multiple countries during her early years, she recently made the move from her long-time rural Norfolk home to the heart of central London, where she continues to evolve as an artist.
Rachel’s musical journey began in an unconventional way. At just 13 years old, she became a Young Carer, helping to care for her mother who had been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis—a journey that gained significant media attention for its rare circumstances. The responsibility of caring for her mother, alongside her older sister Anjeli, forced Rachel to mature far faster than most teenagers. It was during this period that she also struggled with substance abuse, a theme she delves into with raw vulnerability in her music, blending introspective raps and melodic flows.
Her path into music took a pivotal turn when, at 14, she saw Billie Eilish break into the industry with her unique sound. Shortly after, Rachel had a vivid dream of herself on stage, sparking a mission to create music on her own terms. This dream set her on the path to self-taught music production. Armed with just an iPad and GarageBand, she spent hours after school honing her craft in the makeshift shed studio her Dad had built for her, eventually upgrading to FL Studio and spending hours & hours perfecting her production skills. By 15, Rachel was selling beats online, producing entire projects for other artists, and developing an underground following in the digital space.
It was when she discovered Drill music that everything changed. Though raised in the English countryside, far from the genre’s birthplace, Rachel embraced the raw energy of drill, blending it with her own British accent and lyrical honesty. This marked the beginning of her genre-defying style. Her breakthrough moment came when, in collaboration with Jack—a high school friend and her first major creative partner—Rachel fused Drill beats with a Norwegian folk track. The unexpected success of this combination laid the foundation for what would later become her signature sound.
Her genre, dubbed ‘Bedroom Drill’, is a distinctive mix of gritty drill percussion with lo-fi, bedroom pop sensibilities. Her sound integrates soulful melodies, skippy beats, and emotionally transparent lyrics, resonating with listeners who praise her honest reflections on her dark childhood experiences.
It was during an English class in school whilst Rachel was studying the work of William Wordsworth when she read the line ‘One summer evening (led by her) I found..’ in one of his works. The ‘led by her’ phrase struck a chord & she now had an official name for her musical endeavors.
Since 2020, Rachel has steadily crafted her signature sound—ethereal vocals, airy synths, and glossy beats, all underscored by Rachel’s unique lyrical cadence. Her music has earned widespread attention, landing key placements on Spotify editorial playlists such as New Music Friday UK, Lorem, We Move, and Fresh Finds UK & IRE.
With a hunger to transform her recorded music into the live space & perform onstage, Rachel began independently travelling across the UK from the age of 18 to perform at any given opportunity. To date, she has played over 30 live shows, including BBC Introducing Norfolk, Wireless Festival, and opening for artists like DRIIA, Girli, Onoe Capone, and Col3trane.
In November 2024, she sold out her debut headline show at All Is Joy in Soho, performing a one-hour set with a live band, including saxophone, guitar, and keys, bringing her studio sound to life.
She will also be supporting Biig Piig for two shows in February 2025 in Bristol and London and has recently joined the WME roster for booking as of February 2025.
Her social media content has captured the attention of key figures in the UK scene, including Central Cee, Skepta, Lola Young, Ants Live, and Niko B.
In addition to her solo work, Rachel has contributed to productions for artists like Onoe Caponoe, SBK, and FindCNT, as well as collaborating with Col3trane, Mojam Boys, and INDI.
Her music has received airplay on BBC Radio One, 1Xtra, and 6 Music, as well as UK community stations like Rinse FM and Reprezent. In 2024, Rachel participated in BBC 1Xtra's Cypher, further cementing her presence in the UK music scene.
Her work has also been featured across notable press outlets including The Fader, Notion, The Face, Kidstakeover, and Gaucho World.
Beyond music, Rachel is a multifaceted creator. She directs and edits her own music videos, designs clothing, and produces projects for other artists. In 2025, Ledbyher will continue to release new music, including a mixtape and several singles, while expanding her production credits.
Rachel is also a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, using her platform to express herself across various creative mediums—whether in the vocal booth, behind the camera, or through fashion and graffiti.
