ABOUT
Haley Smalls is a Toronto-born R&B singer-songwriter and self-taught recording engineer whose music lives at the intersection of nostalgic R&B, touches of hip-hop, subtle synthwave, and traces of Caribbean — shaped equally by classical vocal training and an uncompromising sense of artistic identity. Raised in Toronto by a Bajan father and European-Canadian mother, Haley was recognized as a prodigy early: her parents enrolled her in vocal lessons after a neighbor heard her singing and alerted them to her gift, and she was recording in professional studios by the time she was twelve. By 18, she had taught herself audio engineering — "The best gift I could have given myself," she's said — so that she would never have to rely on anyone else for her sound.

After years of navigating the music industry's pressures to conform, Haley found her footing as an independent artist — a decision that has defined her career. A pivotal early moment came in 2014, when Beyoncé shared Haley's YouTube cover of "Pretty Hurts" on Facebook, calling it something she loved. The moment brought international attention and was covered by Toronto's City News. But rather than use that spotlight to chase a label deal, Haley doubled down on independence.

Her creative partnership with Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum producer Megaman (Drake, Lil Wayne, Birdman, Tyga, Bow Wow, Yo Gotti) has been the backbone of her artistic development. That collaboration helped Haley develop a signature blend: her classically trained voice layered over productions that move fluidly between R&B and other sub-genres — cohesive in a way that feels both nostalgic and distinctly modern. Her 2019 album *Summer Nights* marked a breakout moment, with standout track "Keeper" surpassing one million streams across platforms.

Since then, Haley has steadily grown one of independent R&B's most loyal followings, releasing a string of acclaimed projects including "The Cure III", "Timelines", and "The Cure IV" — the latter described by Shifter Magazine as proof that she "doesn't need a label to craft timeless music." Her discography reflects an artist always in honest dialogue with her own evolution: love, loss, self-reclamation, and the hard-won clarity that comes with refusing to become someone you're not. Her latest album, Matches — released December 2025 — is the fullest realization of that journey yet. Ten tracks, twenty-nine minutes, and not a wasted moment. With a China tour on the horizon in spring 2026 and momentum building across streaming platforms and live stages, Haley is exactly where she's always been heading.
