NAME:
Frank Ray
ABOUT
Born and raised in New Mexico, Frank Ray grew up surrounded by a mix of country and Latin influences, shaping his distinct sound. Before embarking on his full-time artist and songwriter career, he spent a decade as a police officer in Las Cruces, NM while performing on the weekends. In 2017, he made the bold decision to leave law enforcement and pursue his passion, quickly gaining momentum with his independent releases.
In 2021, Ray signed with BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville, leading to his breakout Stoney Creek Records single, “Country’d Look Good on You,” which climbed the Country airplay charts. The song’s success earned him a Grand Ole Opry debut in 2022, marking a major milestone in his career. Since then, he’s been named an “Artist to Watch” by Rolling Stone & a “Listen Up Artist” by CMT. Additionally spotlighted among the Country Radio Seminar’s New Faces Class of 2023, Ray dropped his debut self-titled album that year & has subsequently shared stages with Luke Combs, Kane Brown, Old Dominion, Luke Bryan, Kip Moore, Brett Eldredge & more. Ray continues to push boundaries, embracing his bilingual roots with songs like “Streetlights” and "Uh-huh (Ajá)", tracks that effortlessly transition between English and Spanish, showcasing his ability to bridge cultures within country music.
Named “one of the most influential Latinos'' by TIME Magazine, Ray’s music is often described as “easygoing contemporary country with pop-soul hooks and a dash of Southwestern spice” (Rolling Stone), a refreshing take that appeals to both country traditionalists and newer audiences. His ability to fuse Latin and country elements has made him a standout in the genre, proving that country music is more diverse than ever.
Beyond music, Ray is a dedicated advocate for first responders’ mental health. As a former officer, he understands the emotional toll of the job, which led him to create FRAY, an initiative providing mental health resources and training to first responders across the country. His work in this space has further cemented his reputation as an artist with purpose, using his platform for positive change.
With a magnetic stage presence, a sound that bridges cultural gaps, and a passion for storytelling, Frank Ray is redefining country music. As he continues to rise, his latest release, “Miami in Tennessee,” proves that his ability to craft fresh, feel-good anthems is just getting started.
